Dr. Krasimir Simonski
Dr. Krasimir Simonski is the Executive Director of the Bulgarian ICT Agency, aka ECNIS. The Agency operates the State network for national security and public administration as well as other critical national information infrastructure such as the Bulgarian supercomputer center and disaster datacenters.
Prior to this position, Dr. Simonski was Chair of the Bulgarian Research and Education Network providing connectivity to the universities and schools in the country and still chairs the CEENET – the Association of the Eastern Europe Research Networks. He has developed and project managed to successful completion several large scale IT projects such as the UNDP Project Telecentres, a project which received a high international recognition for becoming a major national asset in the Government strategy for e-Inclusion, e-Skills, e-Government, and e-Business.
He has also a solid business background, with positions of COO and Head of Business Development with TravelStoreMaker.com - an innovative online travel company, and Lead Analyst for Russia and Eastern Europe of PhoCusWright.com – the world leader in online travel market research. Respectively, his educational background includes 12 years (1991-2003) at the position of Director of Communications and Computing at the AUBG – the first American university in Eastern Europe.
His technology expertise is in Computer Networks beginning with a thesis on LAN voice protocols and lecturing on Internet technologies as adjunct professor at TU-Sofia and AUBG. He has hundreds of keynote presentations in wide spectrum of IT topics but dominantly on social entrepreneurship in the information society, Cybersecurity, IPv6, e-Skills, e-Learning, online travel and others.
