Sarah Riley took up the post of Chargé d'Affaires in January 2015. Before that, she had been Deputy British Ambassador to Bulgaria since September 2014.

Prior to that, Sarah was First Secretary for Russia, Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia, at the UK Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels (2010-2013), Head of Southern Africa Section in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (2008-2010), and Second Secretary EU at the British Embassy in Warsaw (2004-2008). Sarah began her career in the Foreign Office managing the media arrangements for international media covering high level incoming VIP visits to the UK.

Sarah studied Politics, Sociology and French at Aston University, and International Relations at Sheffield University.
